- Almaaza, a native of Montreal, Canada has been performing and teaching Middle Eastern dance for over twenty years. Her background includes the study of classical ballet, ballroom dance, jazz, dances of the Middle East, Flamenco, Indian classical dance, Tai Chi, and yoga. She specializes in Arabic style oriental and folkloric dances and has studied with many renowned dancers in this tradition. Almaaza has performed extensively in nightclubs, theaters, schools, museums, haflas, and Arabic restaurants throughout the eastern states. She has been teaching Middle Eastern dance since 1982. Almaaza has also lived in Lebanon and has conducted dance research in Egypt. She performs regularly at the Casablanca Restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware.
